7-Day Great Migration Calving Safari – Ndutu Area

Day 1: Arrival in Arusha
Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), you will be warmly welcomed by your safari guide and transferred to Arusha. Depending on your arrival time, you can relax at the lodge and prepare for the exciting adventure ahead. Your guide will provide a safari briefing, outlining the journey through Tanzania’s renowned northern safari circuit.

Day 2: Tarangire National Park

After breakfast, depart for Tarangire National Park, famous for its giant baobab trees, impressive elephant herds, and diverse wildlife. Enjoy a full-day game drive as you search for lions, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, buffaloes, and numerous bird species. Tarangire’s permanent river attracts wildlife throughout the year, making it one of Tanzania’s most rewarding parks.

Day 3: Lake Manyara National Park & Mto wa Mbu Cultural Visit

Following breakfast, drive to Lake Manyara National Park, a scenic park nestled beneath the Great Rift Valley escarpment. The park is renowned for its lush groundwater forest, abundant birdlife, hippos, elephants, and its famous tree-climbing lions.

In the afternoon, enjoy a guided cultural tour of Mto wa Mbu Village, where you’ll experience authentic Tanzanian life. Visit local farms, markets, and artisan workshops while learning about the traditions and lifestyles of the many tribes living in the area.

Day 4: Ngorongoro Crater – Ndutu Area

After an early breakfast, descend into the spectacular Ngorongoro Crater, the world’s largest intact volcanic caldera and one of Africa’s finest wildlife destinations. Enjoy an unforgettable game drive across the crater floor, home to an incredible concentration of wildlife including lions, elephants, buffaloes, hyenas, hippos, and the endangered black rhino.

Later in the afternoon, continue to the Ndutu Area, located between the southern Serengeti and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, where the Great Migration gathers during the calving season.

Day 5: Full-Day Great Migration Calving Safari – Ndutu

Spend the entire day exploring the Ndutu Plains, one of the best locations to witness the spectacular Great Migration Calving Season. Between January and March, hundreds of thousands of wildebeest gather here to give birth, with thousands of calves born each day.This remarkable event attracts numerous predators, offering exceptional opportunities to witness dramatic wildlife interactions involving lions, cheetahs, leopards, hyenas, and jackals. Morning and afternoon game drives provide excellent chances for unforgettable wildlife photography and close encounters with Africa’s iconic animals.

Day 6: Ndutu – Maasai Village – Karatu

Enjoy a final morning game drive in the Ndutu Area, taking advantage of the beautiful early morning light and active wildlife before departing.

En route, visit a traditional Maasai Village, where you’ll gain fascinating insights into the customs, culture, and daily life of one of East Africa’s most iconic communities. Learn about their traditional homes, livestock-based lifestyle, colorful attire, and centuries-old traditions.

Continue to Karatu for a relaxing evening after several exciting safari days.

Day 7: Karatu – Arusha – Departure

After breakfast, drive back to Arusha. Upon arrival, enjoy lunch at the elegant Mount Meru Hotel, where you can relax and freshen up before your international departure.

Later, you will be transferred to Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) for your onward flight, marking the end of your unforgettable Tanzanian safari experience.
